The Health and Sciences Complex at Grossmont Community College is a $22.5 million, 52,000 SF facility providing laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices for the Career Technical Education, Forensic Technology, Physics and Health Professions programs. Specialized spaces include a five-bed simulation room for nursing students, casting room for Orthopedic Technology, mock apartment for Occupational Therapy, blood-spatter room for Forensic Technology and simulated ICU patient stations for Nursing and Respiratory Therapy. The Cardiovascular Technology Program and EKG Training have three specialty classrooms and a dedicated ultrasound scan lab. Additional features of this comprehensive facility include Physical Sciences labs, a rooftop astronomy lab, two computer labs, and a large lecture hall for health seminars, guest speakers and combined class lectures. The project required demolition and abatement of an existing structure, installation of underground utilities, and construction of a new masonry, steel and concrete structure.
