This project involved the demolition of the existing Literature & Languages Building and the construction of a modern, two-story Chemistry Building spanning 43,800 SF. Designed to enhance educational capabilities, the facility features state-of-the-art laboratories equipped to handle larger class sizes and increased lab capacities, each with individual student workstations. Additional spaces include lecture halls, faculty offices, a resource library, and versatile meeting areas.
The building’s exterior is adorned with molecular-inspired graphic panels, while the interior features windows with views of students performing lab work, and exhibit display cabinets provide opportunities for science on display. To support the collaborative needs of the chemistry program, the design includes inviting lobby spaces, quiet study areas, outdoor niches, and deck spaces, fostering interaction and learning among students and faculty alike.
