Santa Ana location will be the first full-service charging center built by SPG
SANTA ANA, Calif. – October 2, 2023 – In what will be the first new full-service electric vehicle (EV) charging center built for Rove, Driver SPG (a part of C.W. Driver Companies, a leading builder serving California since 1919) has begun construction on this game-changer for EV drivers in Orange County. Upon completion, which is expected in the summer of 2024, the 1.2-acre Santa Ana center will be able to charge 40 vehicles simultaneously via high-powered direct-current fast chargers (DCFCs) with some capable of reaching speeds up to 350 kW, and offer customers enhanced amenities beyond the gas stations of yesteryear.
Rove has plans for six EV charging centers in Southern California, which includes the inaugural location in Santa Ana as well as Corona, Costa Mesa, Long Beach, Torrance and Rancho Cucamonga. The electric vehicle charging company, based in Costa Mesa, ultimately is aiming to open 20 locations by 2026.
The revolutionary concept design for these EV charging stations includes an on-site market operated by Gelson’s offering a curated selection of quality foods, drinks and convenience items, well-maintained restrooms, free Wi-Fi for customers who use the lounge and outdoor patio, as well as an eco-friendly car wash (in some locations). Staff will be on hand during the day, with an additional after-hours security presence.

With sustainability in mind, the EV charging center will be able to generate renewable energy through the use of onsite solar panels, with battery storage as a supplement to the electric grid during times of peak usage. The Santa Ana charging center will be located at 1008 E. 17th Street, just two blocks from the well-traveled 5 Freeway, with the 22 and 55 Freeways each within two miles.
