The City of Montclair Police Facility completes an existing civic complex which serves as the civic core of the City. The facility is a 45,000 SF, two-story building with holding cells, emergency operations center, police training facility, tactical indoor shooting range, parking areas, carports, sally port, on-site fueling, vehicle maintenance area, and an emergency power generation system. This facility was designed to meet LEED certification standards, and it exceeds Title 24 requirements by 22%. Because maintenance and durability are critical in a police station, the exterior is constructed of split-face block and interior spaces feature high-end finishes. It is an “essential facility” housing a bank of generators with adequate fuel storage to keep it running for 12 hours. The project includes extensive security systems, access controls, cameras, intercom systems and holding cells. Communication systems include 911 emergency dispatch, cameras with recorded media, phones and data.
