The Whittier Central Library project included the 35,000 SF remodel and improvement to the existing building with a 4,300 SF minor expansion, which improved the delivery of service to the community for years to come. The Central Library was built in 1959 to provide library services to the community. The Library’s service area covers two third (eight square miles) of Whittier’s twelve square miles. The Central Library houses the most requested and popular materials; access to the Internet; special collection, Veterans Resource Center, passport processing, and variety of programs and services for entire community.
