The new Fallbrook Branch Library is a free-standing, single story, 19,151 SF structure modeling future best practices for the development of public facilities. In order to accommodate the needs of today’s more socially and technologically oriented patrons, the library is designed to be an important community asset with amenities that include special gathering spaces for children and teens, a community room and a 1,000 SF Friends of the Library bookstore to encourage interaction. Additionally, traditional library functions such as quiet space for reading and study, computer work stations, staff offices and staff support areas are incorporated. It is also a model of environmental and fiscal responsibility adhering to low impact development and sustainable design principles, exceeding LEED Silver certification requirements, showcasing the benefits of a fully integrated architectural, engineering, construction and landscape design process using a design-build project delivery method.
