Cedars Sinai Medical Center – 5th Floor OR/PACU

The Cedars Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) is one of the nation world’s pre-eminent medical institutions. In order to convert an existing 5th floor Cardiac Suite within a fully operational hospital into six new operating rooms, support area and 24-bed PACU (post anesthesia care operative care unit), C.W. Driver had to address issues relating to logistics, OSHPD oversight and medical equipment. Mitigating impact to ongoing operations was paramount and required close coordination and containment of construction noise, vibration, dust, material handling and delivery. Infection control measures were implemented and strictly enforced. Construction dust barriers were put in place with negative air pressure and provisions to exhaust air without compromising the integrity of the surrounding rated exit corridors. All debris removal from the project was performed during off hours with the appropriate procedures to control dust and contamination in place. All required OSHPD were obtained without schedule delays.
