The CSUF Children’s Center serves infants, toddlers, and preschoolers whose parents are students, faculty or staff. It is a place for children to grow, explore, express, laugh, and learn. To achieve these goals, the new 15,300 SF facility is designed to provide a comfortable, safe and homelike environment for 122 children with a planned expansion to serve 244 children. The two or more acre site will provide three, one-story buildings with 10 classrooms, two play areas, a central courtyard, an administrative wing, drop-off driveway, parking and a full-service kitchen. The simple design features extensive natural light and ventilation, and uses green-friendly building materials to create a healthy environment for the children. Drought tolerant plants are used to provide an authentic, 24-month landscape that doesn’t require extensive watering. It is designed to meet LEED® Silver certification requirements.
