The new 95,000 SF CSU Fullerton Student Recreation Building is a state-of-the-art facility designed to serve the fitness, wellness and recreation needs of the students, faculty and staff for generations to come. Facilities include weight training area/cardio fitness room, gymnasium, multi-purpose indoor courts, elevated indoor jogging track, multi-purpose activity rooms, multimedia cardio rooms, climbing wall and outdoor swimming pool. As CM at Risk, C.W. Driver was involved from design through commissioning, coordinating with the architect, Associated Students, and the University’s Design and Construction department. Located at the center of the campus and adjacent to a major pedestrian thoroughfare, safety, communication, cleanliness and site control were important. In addition to a LEED® Gold certification, the project received the “Best Overall Sustainable Design Award” as part of the 2007 Best Practice Awards for the UC/CSU Energy Efficiency Partnership Program.
