Designed to be an iconic campus facility providing state-of-the-art technology in the areas of health and fitness, the main entry and central circulation area of the CSUN Student Recreation Center features a 40-foot, multi-story rock climbing wall and views throughout the facility. The complex incorporates a three-court gymnasium, a multi-activity-court (MAC), an 18,500 SF weight and fitness space, three multi-purpose rooms, drop-in childcare room, 10,000 SF pool and deck, showers and lockers, outdoor recreational equipment and storage, and a lighted outdoor field complex for various activities. Site improvements include outdoor plazas, terraces and walkways linking the new facility with other buildings on campus. Storm water management systems, high performance envelope, efficient mechanical and electrical systems, drought resistant landscape, and extensive day-lighting all contribute to the building’s LEED Gold Certification.
