The Student Health & Counseling Services department addresses the health needs of the University’s diverse student population. Existing health facilities are located in outdated off-campus rental space. The modern new building is located on campus and is designed to promote the social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The 20,000 SF two-story building houses the following departments and support facilities: administration, clinical, counseling, group conference, health education, laboratory, medical records, pharmacy, staff areas, storage, waiting areas and building support spaces. Site development includes site utilities, sidewalks and landscape. In order to meet the campus’ requirements for sustainable design, the building is registered with the certification goal of LEED® Gold. In order to achieve this goal, the design-build team developed a series of analytic models to determine optimal performance of the building envelope and systems.
