The DreamWorks Lakeside Annex building is a seven-story, cast-in-place concrete addition that added 140,000 SF to the existing 92,000 SF building. The goal of this project was to create a sustainable campus with exterior open space and enhanced interior spaces. 100,000 SF of the Annex building was dedicated to office space specifically configured for animators and production people. The extensive technological infrastructure was cast into the concrete and supplied via “poke-thru” floor boxes. These serve the AV intensive motion capture studio, conference rooms, Halo Suite (teleconference Room), editorial area and digital daily screening rooms. The project included an expansion and improvement of its 4,000 SF dining facility that serves approximately 4,000 meals on a daily basis. The parking garage was expanded by 250 spaces and the surface parking extended and connected to the existing parking lot. Relocating campus utilities and rerouting the fire road were also included in the project scope. The project was finished three months ahead of schedule and $1.5 million under budget.
