This project included a substantial seismic upgrade of the building’s bell tower. C.W. Driver installed temporary trailer classrooms used as swing space for the student classrooms. Particular attention was paid to preserving the historical look and features of the original building. Renovation highlights included new dual pane windows; refinishing of the original 1927 wood floors with select patching as required; removal of 1960s era interior renovations to show / reveal the original building’s interior design features; salvaging / refinishing / reusing multiple original wood doors; upgrading the building to current ADA codes. The overall high school modernization occurred in three phases. It consisted of a mixture of modernizations of existing buildings [such as Building “A”] and construction of two new ones. Overall, the entire High School construction program consisted of two renovated gyms, a renovated cafeteria with full kitchen, a renovated high school library, new science building, new music building with a small stage for music programs, a renovated arts building, and an entire campus site upgrade [i.e. lawn space, courtyard space, parking lot, etc.].
