This new middle school for the Irvine Unified School District is a single story, two-building, 73,000 SF, wood framed structure that includes 26 classrooms, a multipurpose room, cafeteria, lunch structure, and administrative space. Being the most advanced project in the District, future modifications have been designed, including expanded IT areas with computer labs, demonstration and work areas, and additionally, three new science facilities localized in each of the classroom wings. A track and field area were included as well as an accompanying PE and locker room facility. The plaster exterior, stone veneer, and landscape has been designed by PJHM to match the Irvine Company development being constructed in the surrounding areas. Sustainable features and LEED® components have been incorporated as this is a CHPs (Collaborative for High Performing Schools) Project.
