Irvine USD – Plaza Vista K8, New Construction and Modernization

The new construction and modernization project included a new music classroom building, as well as a modernization of an existing classroom building to meet current district standards. The extensive reconfiguration of the existing classroom building converted the Staff Lounge into a new Kindergarten classroom, while the layout of two existing Kindergarten classrooms were adjusted for better functionality and supervision. This building also included a new Science classroom and staff lounge.  All interior spaces were upgraded to meet current District Standards and Educational Specifications.  Outside the building, the existing Kindergarten play yard was enhanced with a new shade canopy, an expanded play area, and a new playground structure. The new 4,160 SF classroom building included two 1,450 SF music classrooms with attached classroom and instrument storage, utility support spaces, and separate gender-neutral staff and student restrooms. A moveable acoustical partition wall separated the two classrooms and allowed for flexibility in space utilization.
