The SDSU School of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences building is located in the former Student Health Services building. This 28,000 SF renovation project completely transformed the space into state-of-the-art academic, clinical and research facilities. Clinics provide a variety of speech, language and hearing services to people of all ages. A highly technical motion capture lab was built to showcase the department’s on-going projects.Fast-tracked for completion in only six months, the design build team identified components of the existing building that could be re-used during the renovation. Critical aspects of the project included meeting exact specifications for acoustics. Designed and built to LEED Silver certification standards, the facility incorporates skylight additions, mechanical equipment upgrades, and the use of low-emitting materials.
