Sony – Akio Morita 8-Story Office Building

This project included the ground-up construction of approximately 239,000 SF, Type I, eight-story office building, located on the Sony Pictures Studios lot, near the southeast corner of Overland and Washington Boulevards in Culver City. The construction is a slab-on-grade with a structural steel moment frame. The first floor accommodates a commissary, conference center and coffee shop, and some general office space. An outdoor piazza and dining area are located on the ground level between the new building and the existing Jimmy Stewart building. The remaining floors are for general office use with open office space on the perimeter. The existing site was a surface parking lot and is adjacent to the Jimmy Stewart office building and sound stages that were extremely sensitive to noise and vibration.
